The NS, or Name Server records of a domain name, indicate which servers manage the Domain Name System (DNS) records for it. Setting the name servers of a given hosting provider for your domain address is the simplest way to point it to their system and all its sub-records will be taken care of on their end. This includes A (the IP address of the server/website), MX (mail server), TXT (free text), SRV (services), CNAME (forwarding), and so on, so, in case you would like to change some of these records, you're going to be able to do it using their system. Put simply, the NS records of a domain reveal the DNS servers which are authoritative for it, so when you try to open a web address, the DNS servers are contacted to get the DNS records of the Internet domain you are trying to reach. In this way the web site you will see will be retrieved from the correct location. The name servers typically have a prefix “ns” or “dns” and every single domain name has at least 2 NS records. There isn't any functional difference between the two prefixes, so which one a host company will use depends exclusively on their preference.

The Domain Manager tool, which is a part of Hepsia, has a very user-friendly interface and it'll permit you to edit the NS records of any domain name or even a number of domain addresses simultaneously. We also give you the opportunity to set up child name servers dns1.your-domain.com and dns2.your-domain.com for any domain registered inside the account just as easily and all you need for that is a couple of IPs - either ours, if you're going to use the child NS to forward the domain address to the account on our cloud platform, or the ones of the third-party company if you'll use the new records to redirect the domain address to their system. Different from other companies, we do not charge more for providing this additional DNS management service.
